I couldn't think of a good, short title, this is a bit of a "Get to know your neighbor" post..
Your ObjectivesWhat are your real motives for working online? Are you in it for the money or what?Qualify your site(s) or program's particular purpose(s) What's the attraction?IE; e-commerce, public service, awareness programs, specialty smurf paraphernalia...(your keyword targets should do)Marketing SummeryWho is your target audience and what are you doing to get them to respond to you?
Anything special you do to exploit the traffic? (banner ads or affiliate programs, direct sales, email campaigns, membership, etc..)
How's that going?Anything else that's interesting or noteworthy, you'll see I'm trying to lace it with keywords and keyword links, so promote as you go.Originally, the goal was just to do a favor for people and get ego stroked anonymously without any other reward or compensation by providing a "
Free People Search"site built around a collection of links to free
people search boxes, search boxes I got from others and links to sites that provide access to public records type information like state agencies. Basically a public service to help find people free.
After years of thinking it better doing it that way than to "sell out", clutter my site or waste space on banners, I found that the sites demographics were sheep-like creatures and were susceptible to the jedi-mind trick through HTML. They came from search engines mostly and they moved hard and fast. What if I put a banner where the most popular site link is?...just a little one...and...BAM!
I was making about $5 a month from google banners, top that....
Then I found ads that paid better, were more attractive and did better in one place over another....just a little...then...BAM!
I got paid $100 one month..then $200, and on an on.
I'm sensitive about sharing specifics, but I earn enough monthly to have the same worries as the fellow that goes to an office to work for someone else.
AND THAT GETS BETTER THE MORE I APPLY MYSELF!
There are 12 search sites, some with generous traffic, but one by one, as they get optimized, they start contributing to the pot. They needed enough space so I decided to host myself and sell or share the rest of the space...another money making byproduct to be sure. Other sites include support sites.
At present I'm looking and testing new advertisers and banner/link types/positioning to see what else my users will click on beside other search sites. The traffic appear to be office/education/government type professionals and housewife turned genealogist. Other than free people searches, there's allot of traffic for inmate records and locations, so those are some of my many keyword considerations. The reason for so many sites isn't spamming the search engines, it helps spread keywords out among layouts and types of sites while adding backlinks all over.
