Why do we Take Donations
« on: August 02, 2006, 06:31:21 PM »
Why have a donation box, well most sites have one to help pay for the cost of running a free site and that is great you should help out if you use their site in anyway, form or fashion. I have one here but not for the same reason.

When a donation is made here it goes to buying school books and supplies for my 10 year old daughter.

She is home schooled and as you can imagine the cost of books is very high.

Why she is home schooled, I am glad you asked; she is home schooled for more than one reason:

First and foremost the school that is in our district is not one that my husband or I approve of.

Secondly, I am partially disabled and it makes it easier on me to have her here.

Once she moves to a new grade level we will evaluate the school she is to be in and take it from there.

When she does finally go back into the public school system then perhaps the donations from the site will go toward the cost of operation. Then again, I may just put it in the bank toward her college fund or use it for medical expenses as I am not receiving disability payments and cost of medical treatment and medications are too high as we all know.

Great reason! works well for you both I'm sure.  At least you have the ability to do what most people can't, one disability becomes an asset.
Some seo tools and tricks we can add. The new county jail inmate search is growing, we still find people free and rank #1 at Bing and #3 at Google using the free address lookup.

Yes the cost for books for this year is over $1000. That includes all the books, and teacher books as well.

Thats a good reason  ;D .  Even if it were to help maintain the site, thats still a good reason in my book too.  Running a free site takes a lot of time and electricity, hosting costs, software costs and so on do add up.  It's easy to ask yourself why on earth you are doing it sometimes too!

Yes you are right there. But the reason I do it because I love, yep, I am hooked on webdesign and now forums as well. I starting designing themes for the SMF forums and of course Tiny Portal.

I'm always up for donating to a site that helps me out.  This is one of those. ;)  Keep up the good work Rose.  It is noticed and appreciated.  When the occasions arise I mention your site as a good resource for SMF, and TP support.

Here's hoping the Membership base grown indefinitely.  [-O<
